Bangkok Hotels and Bangkok Accommodation
(Bangkok, Thailand, TH)
Home to one of the best selection of hotels within any Asian capital, Bangkok is full of budget accommodation and cheap guesthouses. This wealth of affordable lodging has made Bangkok an extremely popular tourist destination for travellers and backpackers, particularly during the high season (between December and February).
Those looking for a little more luxury in Bangkok will find plenty to satisfy their needs, with both mid-range accommodation and top-end luxury hotels, including many well-known hotel chains. With such a wealth of hotels readily available, your search can easily be narrowed by which part of Bangkok you would like to stay in.
Bangkok Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Bangkok, Thailand, TH
Lodging can be found all over Bangkok, with the most popular hotels being concentrated within Banglamphu, Chinatown, Siam Square, Soi Ngam Duphli, Th Silom and also Th Sukhumvit, all with something different to offer. Particularly popular are the many excellent hotels located along Khao San Road (Th Khao San), Sukhumvit Road, within the rather upmarket Mae Nam Chao Phraya riverside area, and also around Hualamphong train station.
Bangkok Hotels: Banglamphu
Banglamphu is one of the cheapest districts in the city for both sleeping and eating. Whilst this neighbourhood may be a little less urbanised and developed that other parts of Bangkok, it is perfect if you are travelling on a shoestring budget. Best reached by the new subway or alternatively by both the Skytrain and then the Chao Phraya River Express boats, many of the most popular hotels in Banglamphu can be found around Th Chakraphong, Th Khao San, Th Phra Sumen, Th Samsen and Th Tanao.
Bangkok Hotels: Chinatown
A particularly lively and colourful part of Bangkok, Chinatown is known for its oriental architecture and many traditional Chinese restaurants. However, Chinatown also has much to offer in the way of accommodation, with the best hotels located in the very heart of the Chinatown district. Transport in and out of Bangkok's Chinatown can be difficult, unless you choose to travel by boat. A good selection of hotels lie along the Th Charoen Krung, Th Ratchawong and Th Yaowarat.
Bangkok Hotels: Ratchada
A thriving business and entertainment district, Ratchada is situated within the Huay Khwang district, on the north-eastern side of Bangkok. A number of top-end swanky hotels lie along Th Ratchadaphisek.
Bangkok Hotels: Siam Square and Pratunam
A number of good mid-range lodging options await within the Siam Square and Pratunam areas of Bangkok, many of which feature excellent modern facilities and air conditioning. Although there aren't many cultural attractions within this part of the city, hotels are often close to cinemas, shopping malls and restaurants.
Bangkok Hotels: Soi Ngam Duphli
A number of noteworthy mid-range hotels can be found within the Soi Ngam Duphli area, being close to the Lumphini Tower. Expect rooftop Jacuzzis, saunas, swimming pools, air conditioning and fitness centres in the best accommodation.
Bangkok Hotels: Thanon Silom
Home to the particularly popular YWCA Hostel, this area of Bangkok is full of modern hotels, inexpensive guesthouses, local inns and also the Silom Village Trade Centre.
Bangkok Hotels: Thanon Sukhumvit
Those choosing to stay along Sukhumvit Road will find a good choice of reasonably priced accommodation. This is one of the newest parts of the city and a complete contrast from old Bangkok. Many international restaurants and bars also reside here, although the many one-way streets can make it difficult to travel around by taxi.
